Adams, James Wilbur

Pensacola Journal, Thurs., Mar. 8, 1984 - James Wilburn Adams, 47, of Rt, 4, Box 116, Bonifay, Fla. died Tuesday afternoon in Bonifay.

Mr. Adams was a native of Pensacola and had resided here most of his life before moving to Bonifay two months ago. He was an electrician, and a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the West Hill Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Adams of Bonifay; his father, Mr. James C. (Jim) Adams and his mother, Mrs. Sabra Adams, both of Pensacola; two sons, Steven Adams and Bruce Adams, both of Pensacola; a step-son, T. D. Adams of Seagraves, Texas; two daughters, Cherl Stuart and Renee Allegro, both of Pensacola; two step-daughters, Annette Griffin of Houston, Texas, and Theresa Gates of Bonifay, a brother, Roger T. Adams of Pensacola; and his grandfather, Frank N. Bonifay of Pensacola.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday in the McNeil Keyes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Louis Ross officiating. Burial will be at the Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery with McNeil Keyes Funeral Home directing.

Active pallbearers will be Thomas D. Brown, Matt Gates, Mike Allegro, Charlie Stuart, Wayne Hammond, and Glenn Hammond. Alternate pallbearers will be Robert Bradshaw and Wayne Bowman.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday evening

Pensacola Journal, May 30, 1970 - Quincy E. Adams, 59, of Rt. 4, Box 257 died Thursday afternoon in a local hospital.

Mr. Adams, a retired maintenance employ for the Escambia County School Board was a native of Holt, Fla., but has resided in Pensacola the last 57 years. He was a member of the Ferry Pass Assembly of God Church and the East Hill Masonic Lodge No. 310.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Kathryn Joseph Adams of Pensacola; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Matthews of Pensacola, Mrs. Martha Strazulla of Miami and Mrs. Ada Chestnut of Jacksonville; and a brother, Luther Adams of Milton.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m in the Ferry Pass Assembly of God Church with the Rev. W. W. Holden and the Rev. Willie Sowell officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. from Fisher-Pou Chapel.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of East Hill Masonic Lodge No. 310. Active pallbearers will be Billy Dawson, Bill Danley, M. L. Chavers, Earl Wendt Jr., Paul Whitfield and J. L. Sowell.

Burial will be in the Whitmire Cemetery with Masonic services at the grave. East Hill Masonic Lodge No. 310 will open lodge at 2 p.m. Sunday to attend the funeral.

Mrs. Adams was a former resident of Pensacola. She was a member of the Gateway Church of Christ, the Heart Chapter No. 300 O. E. S. in Lancaster and she attended the Unity A. R. P. Church.

Survivors include a son, Roger Adams of Lancaster; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Adelia Hammond and Jean Maley, both of Pensacola; and a brother, Wilburn "Bill" Bonifay at Atwater, Calif.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 1993, at Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery with Robert Bradshaw performing an Eastern Star Service.

Burial will follow with Waters and Hibbert Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital or a charity of choice.

Pallbearers will be Steve Adams, David Stephens, Wolf Gang Stuart, Wayne Hammond, Adrian Hammond and Glenn Hammond II.

Death of Mrs. George W. Ainsworth

Mrs. George W. Ainsworth, wife of Mr. Geo. W. Ainsworth, the well known pilot, died this morning at ten o'clock after an illness of some duration.

The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon from St. Michael's church at 3 o'clock, and the body taken to Warrington for interment.

Mrs. Ainsworth leaves a family and large circle of friends to mourn her departure.

Death of James Ainsworth.

The death is announced of James Ainsworth, which occurred at Warrington, Sunday. The deceased was a native of Alabama, but had lived on the naval reservation for more than 30 years. He was 58 years of age. His immediate survivors are a widow and five children, who reside at Warrington, a brother, Captain George W. Ainsworth, of this city, and two sisters, Mrs. Jay Seely and Mrs. Oswald Gonzalez, also of Pensacola.

Mrs. Anna Wheat Albino, 70, of 412 W. Brainerd St., died unexpectedly Monday morning at a local hospital.

Mrs. Albino was the wife of the late Silvio Joseph Albino, of the Pensacola Bar Pilots Association. She has resided in Pensacola most of her life and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Miss Louise Albino; son, Chauncey Glen Albino; and a granddaughter, Miss Ann Albino, all of Pensacola; two brothers, C. L. Wheat of Manassas, Va., and O. R. Wheat of Miami; two sisters, Mrs. L. V. Coleman of Eau Gallie, and Mrs. Leo Cooper of Altus, Okla.

Funeral services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday at her home and at 9 a.m. in St. Michael's Catholic Church, with Msgr. William Cusick saying mass. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Bonifay, Charles Larkin, Warren Larkin, Jimmy Larkin, John C. Smith and William Shawyer.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Camellia Club. Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery.

Mr. Albino was a native of Escambia County, a civil service employe at the Pensacola Naval Air Station and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the Men's Camellia Club.

The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Fisher-Pou Chapel.

She was a lifelong resident of Pensacola and was a retired civil service employee at NAS Pensacola. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Survivors include her niece, Ann Albino; great-niece, Heather Gilmore; great-nephew, Lonnie Gilmore; sister-in-law, Lorraine Albino; and her caregiver and special friend, Samantha Smith.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Michael's Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Father Richard J. Bowles, V. F. as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery. Waters and Hibbert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday. The Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m

Was Brought Here By Parents From Bay Point For Medical Treatment - Funeral This Afternoon At 4 o'clock.

Silvio Joseph, the two-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Albino, of Bay Point, died yesterday evening at 6 o'clock at the home of Gale Bonifay, No. 9 East De Soto street, where Mr. and Mrs. Albino have been staying for the past two weeks.

The little boy, who was the idol of his parents' hearts and the life of their home, was brought here from Bay Point for treatment, but all efforts to save his life failed.

The body will be interred in St. Michael's cemetery this afternoon, the cortege leaving the Bonifay home at 4 o'clock.

Mrs. Virginia Campodonico Albino, age 78, died Tuesday night at the Pensacola hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Albino was born in Italy and moved to Pensacola 54 years ago.

She is survived by two brothers, Joseph Campodonico of Pensacola and Rudolph Campodonico of New Orleans, one nephew, Father M. P. Campodonico of Sacred Heart Catholic church, two grandchildren, Glen and miss Louise Albino of Pensacola. Funeral services will be held this morning at 8:45 from the home of Mrs. Sylvio Albino, 315 West Gadsden street, and at 9 o'clock at St. Michael's church with Rev. Fr. M. P. Campodonico saying the mass.

Pallbearers will be: Flore Campodonico, Malcolm Riera, Clifford Pinney, James Larkin, Warren Larkin and Ed. Bonifay.

Burial will be in St. Michael's cemetery with Fisher Pou directing.

Etta Bell Alford, 81, of 1619 East Mallory St., died Thursday at a hospital.

Mrs. Alford was a native and lifelong resident of Pensacola. She was a member of the Sacred heart Cathedral.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Etta Hagensick of Gulf Breeze and Leah Coursen of Pensacola; three sons, J. E. Alford, John S. Alford and Frank J. Alford, all of Pensacola; a brother S. R. Bell of Pensacola, 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated noon Friday from the Sacred Heart Cathedral with the Rev. Father Luke Hunt officiating.

Bagdad - Mr. W. O. (Oscar) Amos, 65, at 82 Church St. died Wednesday in a local hospital.

Mr. Amos was a native of Bagdad area and was a retired agent with the Gulf Life Insurance Company. Mr. Amos was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Santa Rosa Lodge Number 16 F. & AM., a member of the Hadji Shrine Temple and Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Milton.

His family includes his wife, Betty Amos of Bagdad; a step-brother, Van Quiroga of Seattle Washington; a step-sister, Marie Thomas of Pensacola; an aunt, Doris Dempsey; an uncle, Jack Bonifay of Tallahassee; three nieces, Ethel May Chalmers of Gulf Breeze, Alberta Allenbrand of Mary Esther, and Sylvia (Baby) Amato of New Orleans.

Funeral services for Mr. Amos will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday from the Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken Harrison and the Rev. Glyn Lowery officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bagdad Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Blanche Marie Anderson, 60, of 1716 E. DeSoto St., died about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Hospital after an illness of several weeks.

She was a native of Old Warrington and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a member of the Sanctuary Society of the church and of the Sodiality of B. V. M.

Mrs. Anderson is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Archer, Mrs. Volney Day, Mrs. CArolyn Raidt and Miss Gloria Anderson, all of Pensacola; two sons, William B. and Douglas Kenneth Anderson, both of Pensacola; two sisters Mrs. C. W. Cash and Mrs. Ralph Bonifay, both of Pensacola; four brothers, W. A. Oldmixon, Charleston, S. C., G. J. Oldmixon, Pensacola, R. I. Oldmixon, New York City, and D. E. Oldmixon, Corpus Christi, Tex., and 13 grandchildren.

A native of Bonifay, Mr. Anderson had resided here for the last 38 years and was a retired employe of the county and a member of the Pleasant Home Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters; Mrs. Eula Helton and Mrs. Jessie B. Chandler, both of Pensacola, Mrs. Nora Hannah of Ft. Myers, and Mrs. Mary Vaughn of St. Petersburg; three sons, Roy, Ned, and Rex Anderson, all of Pensacola; a sister, Mrs. Julia Ard of Pensacola; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

The body will be placed in the Pleasant Home Primitive Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Sunday for funeral services at 4 p.m. with Elder Burl Phillips and Elder Joe Floyd officiating.

Active pallbearers are L. C. Bellamy, Nolan Dillar, Louis Floyd, Vaughn Watson, Arthur Nall and Leslie Dick Brock.

Funeral for Uncle John Henry Anderson, 84, of Route 2, Box 638, Bellview, who died Friday morning at his residence, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Primitive Baptist Church with the Elders Burl Phillips and Joe Floyd officiating.

The body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m.

A native of Bonifay, Mr. Anderson had resided here for the last 38 years and was a retired employe of the county and a member of the Pleasant Home Primitive Baptist Church.

Active pallbearers are L. C. Bellamy, Nolan Dillard, Louis Floyd, Vaughn Watson, Arthur Nall and Leslie Dick Brock.

Honorary pallbearers are Elder J. H. Jones, Dr. W. P. Hixon, Elmer Muldoon, Bethell Etheridge, E W. Champion and Rev. Dan Bodie.

Roulhac Anderson, a New York attorney, formerly of Pensacola and the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Warren Anderson, Sr., of Pensacola, died unexpectedly at his home in New York City Monday morning.

Survivors include five brothers, Judge Robert H. Anderson and Thomas H. Anderson, both of Miami, Richard S. Anderson of New York City, Berwick Anderson of Green Cove Springs and Frederick H. Anderson of Los Angeles; and two sisters, Miss Katherine and Miss Modeste Anderson, both of Pensacola.

Roy Anderson, 68, of Pensacola died Sunday afternoon.

Mr. Anderson a native of Vernon, Florida resided in Pensacola for most of his life. He was a member of Bellview Baptist Church and of West Pensacola Masonic Lodge Number 296 F. & A. M. Mr. Anderson was a veteran of WWII and was retired from Newport Industries.

Survivors include his wife, Katie Anderson of Pensacola; a daughter, Rachel Marie Walthall of Jacksonville; a brother, Ned Anderson of Pensacola, 3 sisters, Eula Helton of Pensacola, Jessie B. Chandler of Pensacola, and Mary L. Vaughn of Clearwater, Florida.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Faith Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Bilbo officiating.

Burial will follow at the Bellview Baptist Cemetery with Faith Chapel directing. Masonic rites will be recited at the graveside.

The West Pensacola Lodge will open at 2 p.m. Tuesday for the brethern attending the funeral.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home.

George W. Andress, 82, of Gulf Breeze died Tuesday morning.

Mr. Andress was a native and lifelong resident of the Pensacola area. He retired as a supervisor from civil service at NAS Pensacola. Mr. Andress was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze, the Senior Citizen's Club and the Golden Agers.

Survivors include his wife, Vasca Bonifay Andress; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Dr. Frederic L. Jackson; sister, Edna Mills; and two grandsons, Phillip Jackson and his wife, Jennifer, and Mark Jackson.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Michael's Catholic Church with the Rev. Fathers Richard Bowles and John T. Hinton as celebrants.

Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bill Hinton, Bill Alverson, Edward Bonifay and Fred Flake.

Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Prayer services will be at 7 p.m.

Vasca Bonifay Andress, 82 of Gulf Breeze died Monday, June 30, 1997.

Mrs. Andress was a native of Mobile, Ala., and had been a life long resident of the Pensacola area. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze, Gulf Breeze Garden Club, Gulf Breeze Senior Citizens Club and the Golden Agers.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Jackson and Dr. Frederic Jackson; a brother and sister-in-law, Leroy F. and Anne Bonifay; and two grandsons, Philip and Mark Jackson.

Funeral mass will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Richard Bowles and the Rev. Fr. John Hinton officiating.

Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery.

Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Anson died peacefully July 7, 1993.

She was a native of Pensacola and had lived in her home on West DeSoto Street for 83 years. Dorothy attended local schools and Florida State College for Women. She taught at Annie McMillian and McReynolds schools for 17 years, then was employed by the city for 20 years, retiring as a research librarian in 1963. After her retirement she served as a volunteer teacher and counselor at St. Michael's School. She devoted her life to helping others.

Dorothy is survived by two sisters, Robert (Mrs. Lee Sims) of Iowa City, Iowa, and Jane (Mrs. John P. Condon) of Alexandria, Va. and their husbands; a brother and sister-in-law, Captain and Mrs. H. O. Anson Jr. of Pensacola; eight nieces; and five nephews.

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Church with the Rev. Richard J. Bowles, V. F., celebrating Mass. Interment will be private.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Waters and Hibbert Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.

Before her death, Dorothy requested that in lieu of flowers; memorials be made to the Association for Retarded Citizens; Escambia, the Haven of Our Lady of Peace or Hospice of Northwest Florida.

Funeral service for Mrs. Sybil Apostle of 208 E. Chase St. who died at her home Monday morning following a short illness, will be held at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday in Waters and Hibbert Chapel and at 9 a.m. in St. Michael's Church. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.

Mrs. Apostle was a lifelong resident of Pensacola and a member of St. Michael's Church.

Jeannette, of Panama City, Arthur Jeanette, daughter, Mrs. Jospeh Youd; three brothers, Charles Bobe, Buck Bobe, of Albany, Ga., and Baldwin Bobe; sister Mrs. B. S. Mr. Arthur Constantine Asters, 75, of 1901 North 10th Ave., died Sunday night at his home.

Mr. Aster was a retired merchant having owned and operated the Asters Grocery for many years. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of Annunciation and a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Carrie Yonker Asters; a son, Dr. C. A. Asters, both of Pensacola; a brother, Charlie Asters of Tupelo, Miss.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Greek Orthodox Church of Annunciation with Father Dean Gigicos officiating.

Burial will be in the Pensacola Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Faith Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Active pallbearers will be Walton E. Kirksey, Walter E. Kirksey, Robert Harrison, Marvin Booth, Roger Yonker and Alec Stamateios.

Contributions may be made to the Greek Orthodox Church.

Mr. Asters was a native of Greece. He was a restaurant owner, a member of the Pensacola Greek Orthodox Church and was a veteran of the Greek navy

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Reagh Asters of Tupelo; two sons, Constantine Charles Asters of Apopk and Arthur Reogh Asters of Tupelo; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 4 p.m. Monday at McGrath-Rosberry Memorial Chapel (unreadable) with Dr. Larry W. (unreadable) and Dr. Adren Horn officiating. Burial will be at New Harmony Cemetery.

Austin of Sneads, FL and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hattie Avery, aged 94, of East Pensacola Heights, died last night at 7:55 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. W. Briggs, of East Pensacola Heights. Mrs. Avery has the distinction of being survived by two great-great grand children, as well as 23 great grand children, nine grand children and two daughters, Mrs. W. W. Briggs, Mrs. Mark Joseph, both of East Pensacola heights. Mrs. Avery's feeble health, which has prevailed for some time, culminated in her death last night. The body was taken in charge by W. K. Robinson, mortician, and funeral arrangements will be announced later.
