Mr. Largue had been a leading painter at the Naval Air Station for more than 20 years.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from his home, with the Rev. A. E. Schafer officiating.

Burial will be in National cemetery with Fisher-Pou in charge of arrangements.

James Largue Funeral will be Saturday. City Official Dies After Lengthy Illness.

Funeral services for James Largue, 62, who died at his home 820 East LaRua street will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. from Fisher-Pou chapel. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery with the Rev. A. E. Shafer, pastor of the First Methodist church officiating.

Mr. Largue was assistant city assessor-collector. He was also a member of the local Typographical union and at one time was city tax assessor.

He was a member of the Knights of Pythias for 30 years. A printer by trade, Mr. Largue had worked in the mechanical department of the Journal for a number of years. He was foreman of that department before going to the city as assessor.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Muriel M. Largue; one son, James Jr., two daughters, Mrs. Barbara L. Simpler, Washington, D. C. and Mrs. Amelie Clark, Patuxent River, Md. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Arthur Wrighton, three brothers, Alver F., Ernest R., and Clem C. Largue. Three grandchildren, James III, Jackie Clark and Barbara Simpler also survive.

Active pallbearers will be: L. L. Borras, Cliff Wentworth, Earl Westmark, Ventura Quiroga, A. S. Edwards and B. V. Holland, all members of the Knights of Pythias.

Honorary pallbearers are: George P. Wentworth, M. O. Brawner, John R. Jones, Howard Mayes, L. W. Wells, Harvey E. Page, and all members of the local Typographical union.

Knights of Pythias, will have charge of the services at the grave. Fisher Pou is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hattie Roberta Lee, 75, of 8 North 12th Ave., died Tuesday morning in a local hospital.

A native and life long resident of Pensacola, she was a member of the East Side Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Ruby Bowman, Mrs. Tipple Dye and Mrs. Irene Hall, all of Pensacola, Mrs. Betty Carnley of Corpus Christi, Tex.; five sons, Leonia Lee, Joseph B. Lee, Ernest T. Lee Jr., Harold L. Lee and Ebbin A. Lee; a sister, Mrs. Gennie Geri; four brothers, Walter Turner , Emmit Turner and Bill Turner, all of Pensacola, and Frank Turner of Chumuckle; 45 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Fisher-Pou Chapel with the Rev. Luther M. Stephenson officiating.

Pallbearers will be Houston Lister, Henry Reeves, Irvin Turner, David Smith, Jerry Goforth and Jerry Blount.

Burial will be in the Roberts Cemetery in Gull Point with Fisher Pou Funeral Service directing.



Leitch, Erin Loretto

Erin Loretto Leitch, 49, died Thursday, September 7, 2000 in a local hospital following an extended illness.

Loretto was born in Pensacola on October 9, 1951 and was educated in Catholic Schools, including Pensacola Catholic High. She attended University of Florida and worked as a practicing court reporter in Jacksonville, where she lived for many years. She later lived in Texas, California and Pensacola.

Loretto was fond of art and music and possessed an exceptional sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Erin Herrington Leitch.

She is survived by her father and step-mother, Hugh J. and Dorothy Lamar Leitch of Pensacola; sisters, Carolyn Christine Newbill of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Joan Diane Gillson of Pensacola and Mary Suzanne Cuneo and brother-in-law, Danny Cuneo of Larose, La. Survivors also include nephews, Hugh and John Fast, grand-nephews, Jake and Jack Fast of Laguna Beach, Calif, nephews, Aric and Michael Gillson of Pensacola and Tony Cuneo and niece, Erin Cuneo, both of Larose, La. Loretto is survived by many cousins, aunts and uncles and loving friends, including Susie Baugous and David Baroco.

A private service for family and close friends will be held 5 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2000 at the home of Loretto's father and step-mother, 7 Reflection Court, Shadow Trace, Pensacola with the Rev. Al Pruitt, of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, officiating.

Mrs. Frances Turner Leonard, 88, of 1221 N. Reus St., died Thursday night.

Mrs. Leonard was a life long resident of Pensacola, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was the widow of J. S. Leonard.

Survivors include a brother, Filo H. Turner of Pensacola; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas M. Pace of Pensacola and Mrs. R. F. Sunk of Bellvue, Wash.; a son, J. S. Leonard Jr., of Pensacola; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at her residence, with the Rev. Richard Harbison officiating.

Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, with Fisher-Pou Funeral Service directing.

Pallbearers will be Filo Turner, Jr., Richard H. Turner, Charles Turner, William R. Turner, Michael Merritt and Ted Nickinson.

Prominent Banker Dies in Hospital

James S. Leonard, Sr., 63, vice-president and cashier of the Citizens & Peoples National Bank here, died in the Pensacola hospital early Sunday morning after a short illness.

A lifelong resident of Pensacola, Mr. Leonard had been connected with local banks since boyhood, having started as a runner. He had been with the Citizens and Peoples bank since 1932.

He was a member of the men's Camellia club and St. Michael's Catholic church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Frances Turner Leonard; two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Leonard Shunk of Miami, and Miss Mary Leonard of Pensacola; a son, James S. Leonard, Jr.; two brothers, W. A. and S. A. Leonard of Pensacola, and two grandchildren, Robert Schuyler and Van Shunk and James S. Leonard, III.

Funeral services will be held in the residence, 1221 North Reus street at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, and at 9 a.m. in St. Michael's church with mass.

Pallbearers will be nephews: Filo Turner, Jr., Dick Turner, W. A. Leonard, Jr., R. H. Merritt, and John Hyer.

Burial will be in St. John's cemetery, with Fisher Pou directing.

Pensacola Journal, Sat., Feb 19, 1916 Sudden Death of Mrs. Rosa Leonard. Highly Esteemed Resident Expires Suddenly at her Home On West D'Soto Street.

Mrs. Rosa Bell Leonard, a highly esteemed resident, died suddenly yesterday morning at her home on West DeSoto street. Death occurred at 5 o'clock and was a shock to her relatives and friends.

The deceased had been a life-long resident of Pensacola. Her husband, J. S. Leonard, prominent in business circles, died several years ago. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Henry Hyer and three sons, Anderson, William and J. S. Leonard, and four sisters and two brothers, as follows: Mrs. M. P. Palmes, Mrs. Tino Gonzalez, Mrs. Golay, Miss Clara Bell of Birmingham, Avery Bell and Raymond Bell, of Texas.

Services over the remains will be conducted by Rev. John H. Brown at Christ church this morning at 10 o'clock and the interment will be in St. Michael's cemetery. The following will act as pallbearers: Guy Palmes, Ferrell Palmes, James Gonzalez, Louis Shuttleworth, Langley Bell, and Gam Golay.

Daniel Eddie Lewis, 83, of Route 7, Milton, died early Saturday morning at his home.

Mr. Lewis was a native and lifelong resident of Santa Rosa County. He was a veteran of World War 1, a retired civil service employee and a retired Church of Christ minister.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Lewis of Bagdad; a sister, Leila Presley of Bagdad; a sister-in-law, Anna Lewis of Gulf Breeze, two nieces, Eula Mae Mayo, of Gulf Breeze and Govie Bonifay of Bagdad; two nephews, Avis C. Lewis of Bagdad and Ellis Lewis of LaMesa, Calif.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Lewis-Sowell Funeral Home chapel in Milton with Hubert Martin and Ordis Copeland officiating.

Burial will be in Bagdad Cemetery.

Plane Crash Fatal For Two Local Men On North Palafox

Rutledge Lindsay, Carl Sheats Die As Aircraft Burns.

Crash of a Taylorcraft plane eight miles north of Pensacola near the Palafox highway Saturday was fatal for Rutledge Mertins Lindsay, 41, prominent yachtsman, of 205 Syrcle drive, Navy Point, and Carl W. Sheats, Jr., 27, war veteran of 821 North Seventh avenue.

The two men had flown from the Gulf Air park, where the plane was kept, to Site 6. When they took off from Site 6 the plane crashed in a down wind.

The bodies were pulled from the burning plane by ambulance men from Waters and Hibberts funeral home shortly after the accident. The men threw sand on the plane extinguishing the flames, but the bodies were badly burned they said.

Owners of Plane--

Sheats and Lindsay owned the Taylorcraft plane, Adrian Langford, from the municipal airport, said.

Harry Phillips, manager of the Gulf Air Park, said that the men had been flying low after they left his field.

Mr. Lindsay was active in the Pensacola Yacht club, where he had held several offices. He was a former team captain and shipper in many of the gulf coast regattas. When notified of Lindsay's death, club members said yacht races scheduled here Sunday, would be cancelled.

Engineer at NAS-

He was an electronics engineer, as a civilian employe of the Naval Air station where he had been connected for 20 years. He was a member of the First Baptist church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Helen Lindsay; two sons, Francis and Noel; a daughter, Helen Elizabeth; his mother, Mrs. Lena Mertins Lindsay, of Pensacola; three sisters, Mrs. J. D. Robinson and Mrs. Lucius Stearns of Pensacola, and Mrs. W. C. Toney, Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, and a brother, Herbert Lindsay of Dallas, Tex.

Funeral services will be held at time to be announced later by Fisher-Pou Funeral home.

Funeral services for B. F. Lindsey, 79, who died Wednesday morning will be conducted at his home in East Pensacola Heights at 3 p.m. today by the Rev. John D. Thomas, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Burial will be in Whitmire cemetery under direction of T. M. Lloyd with the following serving as pallbearers: Millard Joseph, C. L. Thompson, Ed. P. Way, E. R. Pate, Joseph Bonifay and Ira P. Krebs.

Mr. Lindsey, a widely known retired lumber inspector who retired several years ago, was born in Columbus, Ohio, and moved to Pensacola 55 years ago. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret M. Lindsey, three daughters, Mrs. M. W. Briggs, Mrs. E. C. Duck and R. R. Beaty; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret M. Lindsey, 71, who died at Pensacola hospital, Friday, will be held at the Sacred Heart church Monday at 9 a.m. with mass services.

A native of Santa Rosa county, Mrs. Lindsey came to Pensacola as a small child. She is the widow of the late Benjamin F. Lindsey, well known timber man.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. M. W. Briggs, Mrs. E. C. Duck, and Mrs. R. R Beaty, all of East Pensacola Heights; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Bonifay of Bagdad; nine grandchildren, one great grandchild and numbers of nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Whitmire cemetery. Lloyd-Fauria-Commyns will be in charge.

Pallbearers will be Robert Pate, John Oliver, C. L. Thompson, Millard Joseph, Russell Way and Joe Bonifay.

Rita Elizabeth Geri Lindt, 73, of Pensacola, died Wednesday, October 25, 2000 at a local hospital following a lengthy illness.

Rita was born July 25, 1927 in Pensacola to Joseph and Nettie Geri and had been a life long resident. She was a member of Olive Baptist Church and Daughters of the Nile. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joe Geri; and three sisters, Ellen Scott, Mary Robertson Johnson and Kay Chase.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Lindt; son and daughter-in-law, Hugh and Sandy Fones; daughter, Chelly Lindt; step-daughter and husband, Linda and Tony Middleton; step- sons, Thomas (Gladys) Lindt and Teddy Lindt; brothers, Albert (Louise) Geri and Leo Geri; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 10:45 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2000 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Ted Traylor officiating.

Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Robertson, Robert Starr McLin, Casey Middleton, Joshua Lindt, John Mitchell and Gene Jo Chase.

Bryant C. Lockstead, 51, of 2401 Emily St., died Sunday night at his residence.

Mr. Lockstead was a native of Malone, Florida, but had resided in Pensacola for the past 40 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church, a retired DT-1 in the U. S. Navy and a member of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch No. 22 of Pensacola.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Catherine Lockstead of Pensacola; five daughters, Mrs. Marie Anglin, Mrs. Sharon Hicks, Mrs. Linda Hildebrand and Miss Angela Lockstead, all of Pensacola, and Mrs. Sandra Boehm of Summerdale, Ala.; four sisters, Mrs. Emma Sellers of Midwest City, Okla., Mrs. Ida Baxter of Malone, Mrs. Evie Deese of Cottonwood, Ala. and Mrs. Hattie Rudd of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Samuel C. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Father John Amos officiating.

The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Fisher-Pou Chapel Fleet Reserve services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Fisher-Pou Chapel.

Inez Herrington Lloyd, 96, of Pensacola, died Friday morning in Santa Rosa Hospital.

Mrs. Lloyd was a native and lifelong resident of Pensacola, Florida. She served as a Yomanette during World War I at the School of Aviation, NAS, Pensacola and was a charter member of the East Brent Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Joycelin and Dan Bethany of Pensacola; two sons & daughters-in-law Winston & Luella Lloyd of El Paso, Texas and Bruce & Martha Lloyd of Panama City, FL,; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Monday in the chapel of the Faith Chapel Funeral Home with the Dr. Dale Patterson and the Minister Alan Coletti officiating.

Burial will follow in the Barrancas National Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Active Pallbearers are Erik Manthel, Bryan Manthel, Donnie Aarant and Bruce Lloyd, Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers are Newton Herrington, Hall J. Herrington, Boykin Herrington and Cmdr. Larry R. Manthel, Gene Vallia, Steven Ennis.

The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the East Brent Baptist Bldg. Fund.

Mrs. W. S. Lurton Dies at Residence

Mrs. Geneveive Caro Lurton .....her home, 1611 East Lee street.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, William S. Lurton, Jr., and Jas W. Lurton, both of Pensacola; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Jeudevine, of Pensacola, and Mrs. B. W. Lee of Norfolk, Va; two brothers, Philip A. Caro of Norfolk and Roland Caro of New Orleans, La.; three grandchildren and other relatives.

Mrs. Lurton was a lifelong resident of Pensacola and a member of Christ Episcopal church.

The body will be at Fisher-Pou chapel until Tuesday morning then moved to the home, where services will be held at 2 p.m., with additional services at the residence at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Henry Bell Hodgkins will officiate.

Pallbearers will be C. E. Pohlmann, J. F. Quina, Wm. A. Hoffman, Craig Bledsoe, H. H. Turner, and Capt. James E. Jersuis.

Burial will be in St. John's cemetery with Fisher Pou directing.
